I was pleasantly surprised at how much volume this hair dryer added to my hair. My hair is fine and straight. The Dyson Supersonic has been a great choice for me because it gives my hair a lot of volume. I use the round hairbrush that comes with my dryer (which is ideal for curtain bangs I must add) and one the concentratornozzles to style the bangs and add volume to the roots. My hair never looks like it has ever been on a set.

My friend Amanda has curly 3B hair. I used it on her hair. The diffuser was used on Amanda's hair. I used all attachment settings except for the wide-tooth, which isn’t suitable for my hair. Please forgive me for not taking photos after I used the concentrated styler and diffuser attachments. My hair looked and felt great after using both attachment tools.

A resounding yes, yes, yes. It was unbelievable that a $400 piece of plastic could have such an effect on me. But I don't mind. My Dyson hair dryer is the best I have ever used. My straight, fine hair looks almost lifeless. My hair is flat against my head and looks even thinner than it really is. My hair hasn't been bleached in over a year. My hair is almost entirely natural, with a touch of highlighting at the ends. My hair is very oily without any color. I can last just one day between washes and my hair is still looking bad the next day. So, I am washing my hair more than ever before and doing all I can to keep my ends healthy and moisturized.
About 1.2 pounds. Although there are many hair dryers that weigh less than this one, Dyson claims that this hair dryer was "engineered to balance". I can feel it. The weight of the hair dryer is on top, so it doesn't weigh down my wrist and puts pressure on my wrist. It's also not heavy at the front.

The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer was initially purchased to test on three hair types. However, I ended up testing it only on two hair types (my own and that of a friend). Although $400 seems like a large price tag for a hair dryer I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Dyson could diffuse my curly 28-inch hair in five minutes and caused less damage than traditional hair dryers.
The Dyson Supersonic cable is 9 feet long, while professional hair dryers have a 11 foot cord. The professional hair dryer has a stronger filter and is about $50 more.
It's not very quiet but I believe it's probably a little quieter than many. Sources cite it as 75 decibels. Others say 79.
Nine out of ten, I use the Styling Contolator. I do have curly hair, so I use the diffuser to help define my waves and keep them from frizzing.
Since 2018, I've owned the Dyson Supersonic dryer. Although I love it and recommend it to others, it doesn't suit everyone. It protects from heat damage, but it is not cheap and therefore not the best option.

The volume it gave my hair was what made it worth the price. As I mentioned, my hair is straight and thin.
There hasn't been a knockoff. However, you can let your hair air-dry for most of the process and then dry it with a dryer for the last few moments. This will give your hair a silky smooth finish without any heat exposure.
My hair always looks frizzy and crunchy no matter what I do. This dryer has completely changed the way my hair feels after it's been dried. I used to hate blow drying my hair. I would bake my hair for longer periods of time to get it dry. Now? Because my hair will always look and feel healthy, I enjoy blow drying it.
